Cults

Cults2 One of my favorite topics. Why? Because I’ve been involved in one and I know the damage they can do. You can get hooked long before you even realize what has happened. They are insidious, appearing innocent in the beginning. They use simple forms of mild control, persuasion, intimidation – in general, abuse. But it’s subtle, at least at first.

Unfortunately, as people have become complacent and no longer THINK for themselves or accept responsibility for their actions, the pickings are ripe and plentiful for unscrupulous “leaders” – and I use the term “leader” very loosely! “Herder” is more appropriate, but doesn’t fit well in the sentence.

Fortunately, the one I was involved with was on one side of the country and I lived on the other coast, so I wasn’t exposed to it with the intensity some of the others were. These folks are intelligent, well educated people from all walks of life!! It is not something any of us are proud of, but it is something that is part of our history, that we learned from and can hopefully help others avoid – or recover from. We all got out, but no one escaped completely unscathed. If you believe it could never happen to you, then you’re actually a prime candidate.

No one believes it could ever happen to them because they think it has to do with intelligence. It has nothing to do with intelligence. It has to do with giving away your power, not Self-Sourcing and not trusting your own intuition above and beyond all else, and not thinking for yourself. Ok, that’s a bit redundant.

And there’s one more thing……..This is pure Hunian stuff and I am digressing from the subject of Cults, but it’s important: When I broke up with the guy I’d been living with, I was devastated. Lani was tremendous in helping me through it. He and I were talking one day and he said, “You are determined not to let any man control you again.”

“Absolutely!”

“Then you are going to continue drawing controlling men to you until you drop that.”

What?? Oh joy. That was NOT what I wanted to hear. At the time I could not understand how that made sense, what to do about it or why it was so. My brain felt like it was short circuiting. It just wouldn’t compute. As usual, he read my thoughts and waited patiently for me to formulate a question.

“Then just what l am I supposed to do?”

“Just be yourself. As long as you’re determined nobody’s going to tell you what to do, you’ll draw men to you that need/try to control you. That’s true with anything you’re resisting. Just BE.” And he was right. It’s taken me 2 years to understand this.

Back to Cults:

Usually, the cult promises you the moon – the chance for a better life, greater health, longer life, enlightenment!

Innocent seekers can get sucked in quickly, especially in these times of uncertainty and fear. People are scared. Fear makes you vulnerable. These folks play on that fear.

Cults are dangerous. They do not want you to think for yourself. They want loyal servants, clones who are willing to sacrifice their all for the ‘greater good’ ……….‘greater good’ usually being the person claiming to be superior (see yesterday’s post) or “enlightened” – another of my favorite topics. Sigh…..And these “enlightened” beings are quite willing to help you unburden yourself of your money to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars and your self esteem (aka ego-that-must-be-overcome) for the ‘greater good’ (are you noticing a pattern here yet?)

Why is this coming up right now? There’s a new cult in this country gaining notoriety right now. They already have a lawsuit filed against them and they are huge! I live next door to one of its satellites. I was initially excited that a “healing center” was opening up right next to me! One visit was all it took for me to recognize that it’s a cult. Bummer. Since I was the Newbie, the teacher zeroed in on me like a hawk. That’s another sign…..When they target you, making you the center of attention, put you on the spot and apply any kind of pressure.

Once you become aware, when you encounter one of them, even if you don’t intellectually recognize it instantaneously, your intuition will. The hair on the back of your neck will stand up or you’ll get a queasy feeling and you’ll know “something’s not right!” Hopefully, you’ll listen to it and not override it. But, if you do fall into one of their traps, oh well. Pick yourself up, brush yourself off and move on. We all make mistakes.

Of course in our discussion today, someone asked me if this is a cult. No it is not. Cults are B-O-R-I-N-G. How could they not be? Everyone behaves alike, talks alike, thinks alike. Some even dress alike. It’s very robotic. I have no desire to be Head Stupid and (try to) control a large group of people. Hunians are like cats. Ever try to herd cats? I have a conscience, so bilking people out of their money isn’t an option. I have no desire to convince you to think like me (God forbid! One’s enough, already) or believe the way I do. Plus, I love to laugh and cults hate it when you’re happy….it scares them. Laughter, joy, happiness all open the doors of creativity, something they quash as early as possible.

The Fellowship only offer courses that you can stop at any time. There’s no obligation on your part to stick around if it’s not for you. We present you with information. What you choose to do with the information is up to you – actually it’s between you and your Aumakua or Higher Self or Guardian Angel. By whatever name you call IT, IT is the same. Besides all that, we have no organization for you to join. We set it up this way because I’ve seen groups start out with good intentions, but get out of hand and develop into cults.

We are all walking the Alanui we see before us. Sometimes it’s fun to walk together, other times it’s necessary to walk alone in order to follow one’s true destiny. Listen to your intuition.

If you want to become a Self-Sourcing Crewman instead of a needy guest (only guests can be pulled into a cult), then you could take some of our courses or buy our book. Signposts is chock full of Lani’s writings and wisdom. You could take the Kalo course so that you can have your own private conversations with your Aumakua. Hey, we have to make a living somehow! We can’t give it ALL away for free :)

Seriously…….. Buy a bottle of Cerato (BFR) at a healthfood store and put a few drops into your water every day. If you don’t know what Cerato is for, then take our Journeys course!

Google Cerato……….. No, not the Kia Cerato, silly! Cerato the Bach Flower Essence. Geesh!
